Arkansas State Labor Laws
-
Arkansas is one of the states where the department of labor was given the responsibility in the year 1913 by the federal government to decide that what will be the labor laws in the state. Since then the department has been responsible for deciding the state labor laws.
Some of the facts which the labor force of Arkansas should know are as follows:
Wages and hours worked
As far as the wages are concerned, the minimum wages are set to $6.25 per hour. However it is low for the tipped employers. It is around $2.63. If the workers go out for more than 20 minutes then it will be not counted as a working hour. However if the time is less than 20 minutes then the employers will have to consider that break as a working hour and they will have to pay for it. This does not really means that the employee is free to take the less than 20 minutes break all the time. If this is the case then they will definitely not be entertained. Some of the workers who are fired should be paid their last wage within seven days after being fired. If this is not the case then the employee can file a petition to the department of labor laws in Arkansas.
If the employers are found guilty of not paying the last paycheck of $2000 then the employee can file the petition in Arkansas department of labor. If they have more than $5000 then the employee can file the petition directly in the court without the lawyer.
Child Labor law
As per the child labor law let me tell you that if you are in Arkansas then the child is not allowed to work in the industry where their health is affected. However they are allowed to work in restaurants, ice cream parlor as well as fast food corners. This is definitely a good habit of the child since they are able to earn their pocket money without harming their health.Laws related to sexual harassment
The women’s enjoy special status in all the companies. If any employer is found of abusing any women or any employee as well then he will be punished severely. The government has very strict laws for such convict. Hence it would be better for all the employers to keep a distance from such crime. If the employee is injured during the job then it is the duty of the employers that they provide the employee with the first aid facility.
These are some of the labor laws in Arkansas. All the employers are strictly advised to follow these rules and regulations.
