Some of the labor laws related to the California are as follows:
1. Overtime Laws
If the employee works for more than 8 hours a day then for every extra hour greater than 8, the employer will have to pay 1.5 times the hourly rate being set for the employee. However if the employee is found to work more than 12 hours then he has all the rights to take twice the hourly rate fixed for him for the extra hours. If it is clear that the employee is working for seven consecutive days, then the employer will have to pay 1.5 times the rate fixed for the first 8 hours and twice the rate fixed for the remaining hours. Moreover if the employee works for more than 40 hours a week then he has all the rights reserved to ask for the extra payment.2. Over time exempt employees
There are some of the employees who are doing the managerial, intellectual or creative work. All these employees cannot ask for the compensation as described above.3. Request for alternative work schedules
If more than two third employees submit in writing the request to change the work schedule then the employer will have to change the work schedule. The work schedule may be increased to 10 hours a day. However it should not be more than 40 hours per week.4. Make up time
If the employee decides to make up for the day which he has missed later in the week then the employer is not obligated to pay the over time if the employee does not work for more than 11 hours on the make up day.5. Regular rate
Suppose during a time an employee works for different jobs at different wages then the regular rate is the average of all the rates. He will receive the compensation of extra work for all the jobs according to the regular rate.6. The family medical leave act
Let me tell you that you can get a leave of around 12 weeks every year for various family reasons. However you will not be paid for this. The maternity leave also comes in this act only. The women get the maternity leave when they require it.These are some of the rules and regulation related to the labor force in California. All the above points prove only one thing that the California is the best for the labor force in the whole United States.
