    United States Labor Laws

Before discussing about the Colorado State Labor Laws, let me first tell you about United States labor law in general. They are a mixed collection of state and federal laws that are some what different in each state. The set of these laws govern workers’ rights to organize in the private sector. Federal law as they are popularly known provides more limited rights for employees of the federal government. Labor laws are concerned with wages, minimum wages, working conditions and over time.

These federal as well as state labor laws protect the individual citizens from employment discrimination. According to these laws, no individual should be discriminated on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin and age. These laws also have provisions for obtaining pensions or other benefits. Federal law also provides minimum workplace safety standards, but allows the states to take over those responsibilities and to provide more stringent standards.
