Florida State Labor Laws

  • As far as the Florida is concerned, it is definitely the most beautiful places in the world. However you should know that the Florida is not just meant for the entertainment purpose. The local people also have to work to earn their livelihood. It is quite true that the best way to earn in Florida is the real estate but you cannot really discard the other means. If you are in Florida then you will definitely find industries of all sorts. Hence labor law is equally important.

So let us discuss some of the facts related to the labor laws in detail. The detailed description goes like this:

    1. Workers wages in Florida
Few years before the minimum wage rate in Florida were around $7.21. But since July 24th 2009, the wage rate has been increased to $7.25 which is definitely good news for the workers.  There is good news for the employers as well. They can now pay their employees through the payroll debit cards as well. The employers were searching for this permission for long time and now they have got the chance to use it. There are definitely some strict laws for extra work as well.

Generally the worker has to work around 40 hours a week. However if they are found to work for extra hours, then the employer will have to pay some extra payment as well. This payment is quite high as compared to the normal payment. The employer will have to pay one and half times more as compared to the normal payment. Actually they will have to pay around one and half times more on this behalf.

    2. Child labor laws
The minimum age for a child to work is about 14 years. The child who is below this age will not be allowed to work. Let me tell you that the age group for this law is from 14 years to 17 years. Those who are under this age are eligible to take the advantage of this law. The children are not allowed to work in the industries where their health is being affected. However they can work in the restaurants, fast food corners as well as flower shops and so on.

However the employers have to make sure that they do not ask the child to work for more than 4 hours on the school days. On other days and holidays the child can work for not more than eight hours.

These are some of the labor laws. The employers will have to make sure that they follow the labor laws. If the employers failed to do so then the severe action can be taken against them.
