  • Montana is one of the states which are definitely quite busy. Lots of tourists come here to visit various campgrounds. Let me tell you one thing that Montana has some of the very good laws related to the state labor. In this article I am going to discuss some of the state labor laws which are applicable in the state of Montana.

    Some of the state labor laws are as below

    1. Hiring process
    Let me tell you that as per the hiring process no court in Montana states that the employer will have to hire the best candidate. But you should keep in mind as an employer that you will not be allowed to discriminate two candidates on the basis of the caste, religion, color, nationality as well as language. If any employer is found discriminating on this behalf then they might be severely punished.

    There are some questions as well which the recruiters cannot ask from the applicants. Some of such questions are: have you ever been arrested? Are your married? Are you going to be married? Do you have children? Are you planning to have children? And so on.

    2. Child labor laws
    You will be surprised to note that the child of all ages can be employed. But they need to have the permission from their parents and guardians. They cannot work in manufacturing, mining and hazardous occupations. They can take part in farming however. They can definitely work as an actor, model or the performer. They can also take part in various domestic works. You should keep in mind that the children who are below the age of 14 cannot be allowed to work in any other work apart from those discussed above.

    Let me tell you that the child above 14 years of age can work in some more jobs as well. But they will have to make sure that they work between the time 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. As far as those employees are concerned who are above 16 years of age and below 18 years of age can work in many more industries but they are as well restricted and not allowed to work in the hazardous environment.

    As per the minimum wage is concerned, the minimum wage is $7.25. However those employers whose gross income is less than $110000 are free to pay the minimum wage as low as $4.00.

    These are some of the laws related to the labors in Montana. Let me tell you one thing that the employer should definitely follow it properly. Otherwise they will be strictly punished.
