Nevada State Labor Laws

  • Nevada is a state which is situated on the western region of United States. It is one of the states which are quite famous for the casinos. Las Vegas is one of the major cities of this state and we all know how popular it is. As per the state labor Laws, the Nevada is one of the states which has lot to offer to their labor force.

We will discuss each set of labor laws one by one. Some of the labor laws are as below:

    1. Hiring
As far as the labor laws are concerned, let me tell you that the employer is not forced to select the best candidate for any post. They have the right to select anybody of their choice. But there are some of the questions which the employer cannot ask from the employees. Some of the questions are like: are you married? Are you planning to get married? Have you any children? Are you planning to have any children? And so on.

The employer cannot discriminate the employee on behalf of caste, religion, nationality and language as well as color and race. If any employee is found to discriminate among various candidates then he might be punished badly.

    2. Child Labor Laws
Let me tell you that the child labor laws are generally the same in all the states. As far as the Nevada is concerned let me tell you that child should have a minimum age of 14 years if he wants to work. The children below 14 of age are not allowed to work. As far as the time for the child to work is concerned, it is between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. However those children who are above 16 years of age can work up till 9:00 pm in night and after 5:00 am in the morning.

    3. Minimum wage laws
Let me tell you that as far as the Nevada state Laws are concerned the minimum wage which the employee gets in Nevada is around $7.55 per hour. However they will not be entitled to get the health benefit from the employer. However if they take only $6.55 per hour then they will definitely get the health benefit. As far as the minimum hours for work is concerned, let me tell you that the employee will have to work for 8 hours a day and around 40 hours per week. If they are found working for more hours then they can ask the employers to pay some extra money as well.

These are some of the state labor laws being practiced in Nevada. You will definitely have a very good time out here if you are an employee.
