New Mexico State Labor Laws
-
New Mexico is one of the states which are situated in the south western region of the United States of America. This is definitely one of the states where the tourists come to visit the campgrounds. If you want to see the real natural beauty then you will have to come to this state. It is definitely a paradise. It has third largest number of Native Americans after Alaska and Oklahoma.
As far as the New Mexico state labor laws are concerned, they are as follows:
1. The first law which is coming in my mind is the minimum wage law. The basic minimum rate of this state is around $7.50 per hours. This means that the condition of the employee is quite good in this state. Let me tell you one more thing that the minimum hours which you will have to work are around 40 hours per week. If you will work for extra hours then you are eligible for getting the extra payment.
It is quite sure that if you are above 16 years of age then the employee will definitely ask you to work for extra hours. But this is good news for you. Let me tell you one thing that for each extra hour you will earn an extra income. The employer will have to pay you at the rate of one and half times the hourly wage fixed. For example since you are paid at $7.50 per hour in Mexico, hence you will be paid at the rate of $11.25 per hour for each extra hour you will work.
2. The second point which I would like to discuss is about the child labor laws. This is quite same in all the states. The state of New Mexico is also not an exception. This state too has some great laws for the child. To start with let me tell you that the children below the age of 14 are not allowed to work. However if you are above the age then you can definitely work. But you will be definitely required to have the work permit signed by the school superintendent. You will also be required to get the permission from the parents. However the government sees it to be a good habit as the children are able to earn their pocket money. There health is also being not affected.
3. The third point which I would like to tell is related to the work place injury. If any employee gets the injury during the office hours then it is the responsibility of the employer to make sure that the proper treatment is provided to the employee.
These are some of the state labor laws in New Mexico. This proves that this state is good for working.
