New York is one of the best states in US. The capital of the state is Albany. As per the busiest city, you should keep in mind that the busiest city is the New York City. The city of New York is considered as the business capital of the whole world. But let me tell you that we are talking about the whole state.

Some of the state labor laws in New York State are as follows:

1. Hiring
None of the court says that the employer will have to select the best candidate for the job. However they are not allowed to discriminate among the candidates as well. There are some questions which they cannot ask during the interview.

The first question which the employee cannot ask is that are you married? Are you planning to get married? Do you have any child? And so on.  These are some of the questions which cannot be asked from the employees. The employer should also make sure that he is not discriminating on the basis of caste, religion, nationality, language, race and color. If the employee is found to be affected by this then they can appeal in the court against the employer. He will definitely be punished.

2. Minimum wages
As far as the minimum wages are concerned, the minimum wage in New York State is around $7.25 per hour. The minimum hours for which they will have to work are around 40 hours per week. If you will work for extra hours then it is good news for you.  You will be paid for the extra hour you will work. For each extra hour you will be paid one and half times the normal pay rate. This means that you will earn heavily. I would like to add one more thing that you will be paid according to the federal wage rate if the state minimum wage rate is less than it.

3. Women Harassment
There are very strict laws as far as the women harassment is concerned. You will be severely punished if you will be found violating this law. Women should be given special respect by all the employees as well as the employers. If they will not be paid the extra respect then the accused employees and the employers might be in some danger. The women can definitely file a petition in the court and the court will punished the accused employer or the employee.
