North Carolina is a very important as well as beautiful state. People come out here to enjoy. But have you ever thought of staying for ever or for some years in North Carolina. Well, we will talk about some of the labor laws which are applicable in this state.
Some of the state labor laws are as below:
1. Family and Medical leave
As far as the medical leave is concerned, a person can take the medical leave. They are allowed to take a leave of 12 weeks but they will not be paid for this period. There are some rules on the basis of which they can take this leave. The employee who is taking the leave should have worked for more than 12 months in the employers company.There is also one more point that the employee must have worked in excess of 1250 hours in a calendar year. They should also make sure that they are employed by the covered employer. This means that the employer must have at least 50 employees working under him. They will have to continue their business with more than 50 employees for more than 20 weeks. Only then they will be termed as a covered employer.
2. Unemployment benefit
Let me tell you that those employees who are removed from the job without any reason are eligible for the unemployment benefit. They are entitled to get the unemployment compensation. If they are able and available for the work, then they are eligible for the compensation.3. Sexual Harassment
Let me clear one point that the sexual harassment of any form is not allowed in the office. If it is proved that any employer has been involved in the sexual harassment of any women, then they will be badly punished.4. Child labor laws
Let me clear one point that the child labor is same in almost all the states. You will be quite happy to note that the children who are below 14 years of age are not allowed to work. Those who are above 14 years of age can work but they will not be allowed to work for more than 4 hours a day during the school days. However on holidays they can work for around 8 hour a day. As far as the time duration for work is concerned, let me tell you that they are not allowed to work before 7:00 am in the morning and after 7:00 pm in the evening. However on the holidays they can work up till 9:00 pm.These are some of the state labor laws in North Carolina. You will have to follow then strictly as an employer as well as an employee.
