Oklahoma State Labor Laws
-
Oklahoma is one of the states which are definitely quite popular. It is situated in the mid of the United States of America. The climate is quite good and there are many campgrounds as well as the lake around. However the state labor laws out here are quite hot topic. You will definitely find them to be quite handy if you are an employee.
Some of the labor laws are as below:
1. Child labor laws
As far as the child labor laws are concerned, let me tell you that a child who is below 14 year of age cannot really work in any kind of place. However if you are above 14 years then you can definitely work in some of the industries. But they should not be hazardous. If the working environment is found to be unfair for health then the children will definitely be not allowed to work in those areas. Some of the areas where a child can work are the fast food corners and restaurants. But they will not be allowed to cook. They will just be allowed to serve the food. As far as the number of hours worked is concerned, let me tell you that the children cannot be allowed to work for more than 4 hours on the school Days. However on holidays they can work for around 8 hours a day. Let me tell you one thing that the government in America is quite concerned about the children of the country. Hence as an employer you will have to make sure that you should not ill treat the children. If you are caught doing that then you will definitely be punished.
2. Minimum wages
Let me tell you that the minimum wages which you will be paid in the Oklahoma is around 7.25 dollars if the number of employee in the office is more than 10. If the employee is not more than ten then the minimum wage which will be paid to you is around $2.00 per hour. This is definitely both employer as well as employee friendly.3. Hiring
As far as the hiring process is concerned let me tell you that no court says that the employee should hire the most talented person. They have the right to select their own favorite. But let me tell you one thing the employee does not have the right to discriminate among the employees on the basis of caste, religion, race, color and so on.These are some of the laws which are followed in Oklahoma. You will definitely have to obey it as an employee as well as an employer.
