As far as the state labor laws is concerned let me tell you that Oregon is one of the state where you will find employee friendly state labor laws. It is a heaven for the workers. You can easily understand this fact since the minimum wage rate in Oregon is around $8.40 which is not low by any standard.
Some of the state labor laws are as follows:
1. Hiring
No law of any court says that the employers are bound to select the best candidates. However they are not allowed to discriminate among the employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, race, national origin and disability. If they are caught discriminating among the people on this basis then they will be severely punished. The entire employer should keep in mind.2. Minimum wages
Let me tell you one thing that the minimum wage which is being fixed out here in Oregon is $8.40. This is definitely higher than most of the other states. As far as the number of hours that is required for one complete days work status is 8 hours discarding the lunch break. As far as weekly work hour is concerned, let me tell you that an employee is required to work for at least 40 hours.If the employee will work for lesser hours then he will definitely be devoid of the total salary. Some fixed amount will be deducted from his/her salary. However if the employee works for more hours then he is liable to get the incentives. He will be paid extra for each extra hour he will work. Let me tell you one thing that the pay rate for the extra hours is higher as well. It is around one and half times the wage rate fixed for him.
3. Child labor laws
As far as the child labor laws is concerned, let me tell you that a child can work only if he is above 14 years of age. If he is below 14 years of age then he will definitely be not allowed to work. They are also not allowed to work in the places which are not good for their health.4. Work place safety
As far as the work place is concerned, let me tell you that the work place where the employees are working should be good. If it is not in good condition then the employee can say no as far as working in such condition is concerned. The employer will definitely have to make sure that they provide the healthy work place to the employees.These are some of the state labor laws which are being practiced in Oregon. The entire employer should make sure that they stick the posters so that all the employees are aware of their rights.
